A group of trial judges is asking President Barack Obama to "restore the traditional balance between federal regulation and state-based consumer protections and ensure injured Americans have access to the courts when injured by negligence or misconduct." The Administrative Procedure Act allows any new presidential administration to stay any final rules that have been put forth 60 days prior to the start of a new administration.
The group of judges want to make sure that the people of the United States are able to file proper lawsuits regarding product liability. Product liability is defined as manufacturers and distributors of products can be held liable for their goods if they are found to be defective and cause injury or harm to people that purchase and use them.
